Status and availability

Concept
What is available today
Design only. Financial settlement requires an authorised partner institution.
Regulatory approvals required
Central Bank of KenyaPlanned

Payment and settlement functions that move value for third parties are designed to route through an institution authorised by the Central Bank of Kenya. Bitdax does not hold a CBK authorisation and does not settle third-party funds on its own account.

Bitdax publishes the status of every service. A working interface is not evidence of an approval. See the regulatory status page for the full register.

Capabilities

What it does

Entitlement holding

Holds programme credits, not customer money.

Verified recipient

Bound to a verified identity to reduce duplication and fraud.

Expiry rules

Unused entitlements expire back to the programme.

Redemption history

Beneficiaries see what they received and where it was used.

Licensed settlement

Financial settlement is executed by an authorised institution.

Low-bandwidth access

Designed for feature phones and intermittent connectivity.

How it works

The flow, end to end

  1. Entitlement received

A verified beneficiary is allocated a programme credit.

  2. Redemption requested

The beneficiary redeems at an approved provider.

  3. Delivery confirmed

The provider confirms the service was supplied.

  4. Settlement instructed

An instruction is passed to the licensed financial partner.

  5. Record closed

The entitlement is marked consumed and reported.
